Itinerary Yucatan Mexico Belize Guatemala Backpacking Travel

This itinerary for Yucatan could be called “the Maya-route”, as you can visit several old temples and ruins of the Maya during your trip. Yet, this is not everything, as you can also have some adventure and visit some beautiful beaches along the way – there is lots to see. Within three weeks, you will explore many parts of the southeast of Mexico, have some relaxing time at Belizes beaches and will get to see the old city of Tikal.

In Mexico and Guatemala it can help to be able to speak a bit Spanish, as you can easier get in touch with the locals. Mexicans are known to open up quite quickly and you can be sure that they will crack a few jokes (sometimes even at your expense – but don’t get mad! Folks are carefree when it comes to tease and get teased). Als for Belize: Throw your Oxford English over board, this is Creole Country! Yes, you’ll be able to talk English here, but keep in mind that most of the folks will talk to you in “Island Lingo Slang” – so pay attention !

How much time do I need to see all this during the trip?

20 days or shorter/longer if you prefer. Just spend some more time at the places you like. Or swap some things with suggestions noted in each post.

How much money do I need for 3 weeks in Yucatan?

1100 EUR (1,287.00 USD) to 1300 EUR (1,521.00 USD) per person (travelling as a couple – a solo travelling person might have to spend a bit more) including accomondation, transfer, food and some tours.

When to go? What is the best time to travel to Yucatan?
