Ecuador is one of my favourite countries I visited so far: This country seems to be filled with adventurous places and has some extreme diversity in its regions. Rainforest jungles you can hike, lots of rivers and waterfalls that invite you to go rafting, mountains & volcanos that you want to climb… and of course, there is Galapagos! Even the cities seem to be more than just some “gray concrete blocks”: It seems that they are as colorful as the country itself, covered with stunning graffitis and murals by well-known artists.
It can really help here to be able to speak a bit Spanish, as you can easier get in touch with the locals or get some of your questions answered. Keep in mind though, that some of the Ecuadorians are actually Quechua, and even though younger people can of course speak Spanish and often English, older Quechua sometimes cannot.
