Goodbye Indonesia – From Yogyakarta to Jakarta by train

This post is part of the summary-article 3-Week itinerary Indonesia on a budget (Bali, Gili Islands, Java) . You can either use the links in the summary to get detailed information about each place in the itinerary, or the floating bar at the bottom of the page to navigate through each day.

Yogyakarta –

We have a small breakfast before packing our stuff and crossing the road to get to the train station. Sind we had already bought our tickets yesterday, everything is going quite smoothly. Going to the check-in booth, then through the gate to the train – a few minutes later we already see the landscape of Java passing at our windows…

Jakarta –

As we approach Jakarta, the scenery starts to change. No more ricefields and small pittoresque huts – the obvious social class inequalities are quite shocking here: Next to the rails you can see a huge area covered with corrugated-iron huts, but on the left side in the background you can see skyscrapers growing out of the earth… This city isn’t beautiful at all. We take a taxi at the train station to get to the airport.

Abu Dhabi –

Like so often, our flight had a delay – to our luck there is a fast lane for folks having to transit here…

Frankfurt –

Home at least. I need to get me some sleep.
